The Fiddle And Fire
Well, even though the MSM has found religion when it comes to Karl Rove (they are praying that somehow, some way, they can unearth the non existent dirt) and are pursuing a non event relentlessly, the real story of corruption and deceit remains untold.
"The man who abruptly retired as Kofi Annan's cabinet chief after shredding papers related to the Oil for Food program has been shredding still more documents at the United Nations, an eyewitness told FOX News. Iqbal Riza, who has been working on a $1-a-year salary as a special advisor to Annan, has been shredding large quantities of unknown documents in his new 10th-floor U.N. office across the street from the U.N. Secretariat building, the source said.According to the eyewitness, a U.N. staffer who works on the same floor as Riza, the retired cabinet chief arrived within days of leaving his old job, loaded down with many cartons of papers and files.
Riza was not in his new office daily, but every day he appeared, he would put large numbers of material through an office shredder located in a public area.
"It became the office joke," said the eyewitness, who did not wish to be identified for fear of reprisals from superiors. No one knew what the documents were, the eyewitness said.
Annan's office would neither confirm nor deny the fresh round of destruction. A spokesman for the secretary-general told FOX News that Riza was now working as a special adviser on a newly launched project to foster dialogue between the Islamic and Western worlds.
On another front, The NYT published an article that clearly defines the state of affairs of Muslim citizens in the United Kingdom. The shock that 'home grown' terrorists might commit such heinous acts of terror, comes as no surprise to many, the article says. Once more, we are treated to an 'it's our own fault' buffet of silliness and complete lack of understanding of even the most basic realities of what the Muslim world faces- and chooses to ignore.
"He was sick of it all, all the injustice and the way the world is going about it," Mr. Dutt, 22, said. "Why, for example, don't they ever take a moment of silence for all the Iraqi kids who die?"
"It's a double standard, that's why," answered a friend, who called himself Shahroukh, also 22, wearing a baseball cap and basketball jersey, sitting nearby. "I don't approve of what he did, but I understand it. You get driven to something like this, it doesn't just happen."
The article goes on to say,
"They say they are weary of liberal Muslim leaders and British politicians who promise changes. They see them backing policies against the Muslim world in general, from Iraq to the Middle East to Afghanistan, and promising relief from economic distress and discrimination. Still, Britain's Muslims have languished near the bottom of society since their influx here in the 1950's.
"I know what people don't understand - it's how terrorists could have been born in this country," Shahroukh said. "But my point is, why not?"
...Both men, eloquent, better educated and better off than most in their community, are also among the more politically motivated. They have embraced one of the more conservative, if not militant, Islamic movements in Britain today - Hizb ut-Tahrir, or Party of Liberation.
...stated goal is to rebuild the Caliphate - the Muslim state dissolved with the fall of the Ottoman Empire - to displace corrupt dictators in the Muslim world, and to instill Islamic mores and Islamicize almost every aspect of daily life."
Notwithstanding the NYT's deliberate attempt to misrepresent the intention of those who wish to reinstate the Caliphate (government by Sharia) by representing it is something less than a global aspiration, the author is loathe to ask the obvious questions.
If the object of Muslim hatred is the injustices it sees foisted on the Muslim world, why are there no suicide bombers plying their evil against the biggest perpetrator of evil against Muslims- other Muslims?
Where were the voices of outrage against Saddam? Against the Mullahs of Iran? Did anyone utter a peep when Hafez Assad slaughtered between 20,000-30,000 Syrians in Hama? Against the GIA in Algeria, that raped and dismembered children as a religious mandate and the total deaths were recorded in the hundreds of thousands? Do the actions, including rape, of the Janjaweed in the Darfur region get a pass because the victims aren't Muslims? Is that what the Caliphate means- that only the Kaffirs are to be punished? The slave trade goes on in Mauritania, as Arab slave traders ply their trade? Does that too, get a pass? We could go on and on, but we don't wish to take up the rest of the weekend. Yes, it would take that long.
Millions upon millions of Muslims deaths have been recorded at the hands of other Muslims and yet the British Muslim community, according to the NYT, are outraged at the actions of their government and the Americans at the liberation of that country- and as such, are now desperate enough to motivate suicide bombers.
By the way, to put things in perspective, the Palestinian loss of life in the Intifada they themselves initiated, is somewhere over 3,000. The numbers aren't really known because the PA includes in that number, persons killed in the Intrafada- the war Palestinians have unleashed upon themselves.
In any event, Israel is one the focal points of Muslim obessions are the 3,000 plus victims of the Intifada (for further clarification, see this and this). The millions of Muslims killed by other Muslims, or the 100 million Muslim victims of FGM, are of no consequence to those British Muslims- or the NYT.
That is like walking into a hospital in need of brain surgery, and instead asking for mouthwash- and that is exactly what a good part of the Muslim community is doing.
In the way that Nero fiddled while Rome burned, the MSM is dancing around reality. This time however, the fire that may engulf us will be a lot bigger.
