Katrina will wreck havoc on some accounting functions Americans have come to count on.

... Someone had to do it ... and believe me, there are worse accounting jobs! I frequently received phone inquiries from television game shows about the history of the count. Bookies called me to try to figure out the over/under date of the next sign change. During those fun years, I was even invited to be on a talk show featuring weird occupations.

A major crisis in 1985 occurred when I notified the system to change the signs to 55 Billion. We only changed the signs in increments of five billion. The restaurants had only one number-five digit! We quickly had to have our supplier create extra fives and distribute them immediately.

In 1989, we had served over 75 Billion! In 1993, we changed the signs to 95 Billion and knowing that we would reach 100 Billion in only a couple of years, had to make a major decision.
