SC&A Melt Stupidity And Deceit

Apparently, we are experiencing a blizzard of another kind this winter. It seems that stupidity reigns and deceit are blowing in from the left, in massive amounts.

SC&A are pleased to be the stupidity and deceit melter. We will make sure the sunshine of clarity and truth are back in the forecast.

Both Dr Sanity and The Anchoress have posted on Jimmy Carter's most recent remarks that serve only to so well highlight his irrelevance on the world stage, an act eclipsed only by his deliberate deceit.

Dr Sanity writes with the sureness and elegance of scientific equation- you just can't argue the logic:

...Another pitiful old man, cut from the same cloth as Clark, speaks up in favor of tyrants. If you are not clear on why we have reached this point in history where all the murderous thugs and fanatics believe they can commit their atrocities with impunity, look no further for the answer than from the lips of this man, so revered by the left and the Democrats. I admit I used to think he was harmless, and that he even had a soul. I was wrong.

The Anchoress is just plain fed up. She writes with heartland common sense and sees through the fog and smoke- the same qualities that won two elections that put Mr Bush in the White House. Of the Clintons and Jimmy Carter, she says

..these two are still better than this bitter, spiteful and horrifically needful man. Oh, I forgot to add despicable, too.

She is more than right. Mr Carter is playing a dangerous game, trying to influence policy by purporting to speak for America. While Mr Carter is entitled to speak for himself, he no more represents American interests than does John Kerry or Lyndon Larouche. Unlike like scoreless soccer played by the trophied self esteemers, in the real world you have to win and be in the game to speak for the country. While Mr Carter may know a whole lot about posing for pictures in a construction hard hat, he apparently does not yet understand he's on the bench.

Mr Carter has gone one step, almost unnoticed, further, in misrepresenting what is an American and western position as it relates to the Middle East. In what can only be referred to as agendized 'meddling,' Mr Carter adopts a radical Arab agenda and tries to give the legitimate imprimatur to a policy that does not exist.

In his remarks, the former American president patently lies. He states that

"From Dwight Eisenhower to the road map of George W. Bush, our policy has been that Israel's borders coincide with those of 1949..."

(Now, pay attention. You are about to actually learn something. This means that you might actually come across as a person of some substance, as opposed to a whining and feeling idiot.)

This is patently false- the UN, too, recognizes the pre 1967 borders as legitimate and definitive. Those 'final' borders are predicated the basis of UN 242, the resolution that sets the 'ground rules' for a post 1967 peace in the region. To be clear, it is important to understand what 242 says and does not say. UN 242 does call for Israeli withdrawal "from occupied lands" in exchange for peace, diplomatic recognition and normalization of relations. It explicitly does NOT call for withdrawal from ALL the lands occupied (this was in recognition of Israel's legitimate security needs), nor does UN 242 call for withdrawal BEFORE peace, recognition and normalization of relations with Israel.

Inasmuch as Hamas has as it' s stated position the non recognition of Israel, established diplomatic relations and 'normalization' of relations, Israel is under no obligation to recognize or help a regime that is dedicated to it's eradication. In addition, the
Khartoum Resolution of 1967 made clear the Arab position:

  • No peace with Israel.

  • No recognition of Israel

  • No negotiations with Israel

It must also be understood that UN 242 does not deal with Palestinian refugees, nor was it meant to. Refugees from the region were the subject of UN 184, an entirely seperate UN resolution. The refugee issue was never tied to a comprehensive peace settlement. Furthermore, the 800,000 original Palestinian refugees are not the only refugees addressed by UN 184.

There were approximately an equal number (800,000) of
Jewish refugees from Arab countries that were unceremoniously booted out, their property confiscated. They too, are the subject of UN184. The UN resolution is not specifically 'owned' by the Palestinians, much as they and Jimmy Carter would have everyone believe.

Now you can go and pass yourself off as someone intelligent.
