Grading On A Curve: Trying To Hide The Failures Of Islamic Tyrannies

Iranian President Mahomoud Almadinejad has declared that 'democracy has failed.' Of course, those really aren't his words or thoughts- In Iran, nothing the government says or does happens without the express permission of the mullahs. As we have noted earlier,
It was no accident that Almahdinejad won the election. The mullahs want him to distract attention from themselves and their agenda. In fact, they are delighted that he and not they, are the focus of the world's disdain and revulsion. With every outrageous remark, with every preposterous statement, Almahdinejad serves as buffer between the world and the mullahs.
It bears remembering who and what the mullahs represent. They are trying to distract us- and much of the dysfunctional Islamic world that they are in a position to opine on freedom, democracy, success and failure.

It is not democracies that proved to be murderously intolerant. The Baha'i of Iran can testify to that, as can the Copts of Egypt and the Christians of Lebanon. Throught the Arab world, school curriculums, media and religious exhortations to hate and kill are de riguer. The Iranians are hardly in a position to lecture anyone on the freedoms democracy makes available. Muslims in America enjoy far more freedom here than they would most anywhere else.

The failures of the Islamic world can be measured in other ways. A recent UN report ranked that Arab world education last in the world, save for sub Saharan Afric- a place that has few schools to begin with. There are more interesting facts to consider:
To illustrate the Islamic state of affairs in science a report from the Arab Fund For Economic and Social Development, The Arab Human Development Report 2002, Creating Opportunities for Future Generations, compared the number of research scientists, and the number of articles in scientific journals with more than 40 citations, for the United States, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Algeria. The United States in 2002 had 466,211-research scientists in a wide variety of disciplines, and 10,481 articles. The three Arab countries combined had 3,161-research scientists, primarily in applied energy and medicine, and three articles. According to the World Bank, in 2000 the average annual income in the Muslim countries was only half the world average.
Clearly, the Islamic tyrannies have not done so well by their citizens. The numbers get worse when you consider that the comparisons did not include all the western democracies. The detachment from the 'real world' would be that much greater if those numbers were referenced The material and academic successes of Israel, America and the west are a source of huge shame to the Islamic tyrannies- and that only highlights and accentuates the Islamic world 'brain drain' to the west. The very best minds leave for the societies and cultures that are so hated. Notwithstanding all the noise and mindless prattle that comes from the Islamists, after a generation or two, those who come here and their descendants, assimilate into America and American society. Further, notwithstanding the orchestrated mass demonstrations against America, held on a regularly scheduled basis, it is safe to say that if offered a 'green card,' most of the demonstrators would jump at the opportunity to live with the 'Great Satan.'

We have also noted in Definitions And Muddy Waters that
Turkey, a candidate for EU member status has the highest has a population of sixty million and has a GNP equal to that of Denmark, with a population of five million- and Turkey is the most successful Muslim nation in the region. Any shift by Turkey towards Islamism will result in that country's economy withering away. The standard of living for Turks will drop and will unlikely recover for decades.
The Iranians are oblivius to that truth- because they have to be. They cannot acknowledge that democracies are more successful by virtually every standard of measurement and they cannot abide the reality that democracy means they would have to yield their absolute contol over their citizens.
In their minds, democracy, freedom and peace means that secularists have asserted their dominion over Islamism. That notion is intolerable- and as many as need be will die preserving the illusion that democracy, freedom and peace are evil and in opposition to Islam.
There is another matter to be discussed. In a democracy, private property is sacred and the state cannot take away what bellongs to it's citizens. In the Islamic tyrannies, the threat of losing one's property is an ever present sword of Damocles.

The attempt to demonize democracy is no more than an attempt to legitamize the speactacular failures of Islamic tyrannies. To be abhorred by such tyrants, despots and failures is a badge of honor.
