Fixed Addresses, Deliberate MSM Stupidity And The Lebanese President
Filling the airwaves and column inches of newsprint, are news stories focusing on what appears to be the 'deliberate destruction' of the 'civilian infratructure' Beirut and southern Lebanon.
Images of crying old women, wailing as they survey the rubble that was once their neighborhoods, and close-up shots of torn teddy bears, serve as the backdrop as the media foreign correspondents grave voices, in restrained yet urgent voices, announce that Israel isdeliberately destroying civilian targets.
What drivel!
Every political organization in the world has a published address and a published phone number. Every social organization in the world has a address and a phone number. There is no listing in any directory for the Hizbollah political headquarters. There is listing in any directory for the address of the Hizbollah military headquarters.
Hizbollah runs hundreds of schools, clinics, social services and religious institutions. There are no headquarters address for them, either. The thousands of employees necessary to run such ranging programs seem to have no home office or headquarters.
These are no small distinctions. Hizbollah has replaced the government of Lebanon as the effective authority in southern Lebanon. There are Hizbollah representatives in the Lebanese parliament and there are Hizbollah representatives in the Lebanese cabinet.
Clearly, any negotiations with a terror organization are a waste of time. They are not bound by the same rules and regulations that govern civilized society. Hezbollah bases in urban areas, arms depots in urban areas, missle launch sites that are residential backyards and the transformation of blocks in South Beirut into Hezbollah headquarters facilities are issues that undermine every Hizbollah claim to legitimacy.
Despite their political influence, Hizbollah refuses to identify itself as a political entity, in the same way as other legitimate political organizations. Instead, Hizbollah continues to define itself, by actions and words, as a terrorist organization. By definition, terrorist organization are not bound by civilized convention and the established rule of law. By definition, terrorist organizations operate outside those conventions and outside the rule of law.
Imagine the Ku Klux Klan with political representation. Imagine the Ku Klux Klan running schools (one can only imagine what kids would be taught), social services and medical clinics for it's membership only, and you have a good idea of who and what Hizbollah is.
Would anyone expect an armed to the teeth KKK to honor any agreements they made with those they considered their enemies?
Lastly, the Lebanese president, Emile Lahoud has 'stunned' the international community by announcing that if there is an Israeli ground invasion into Lebanon to rid that country of Hizbollah, he would instruct the Lebanese Army to side with Hizbollah and fight Israel.
That threat has no substance whatsoever.
Emile Lahoud was the installed by the Syrians, with strong ties to that country.
Lahoud's popularity has been low recently, especially among Christians, Druze, and Sunnis. Lebanese Maronite Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir and Druze leader Walid Jumblatt have been vocal critics. Assassinated Sunni former prime minister Rafik Hariri, who had worked under Syrian support for many years, clashed with Damascus over the extension of Lahoud's term, and resigned in protest. These figures view him as a puppet controlled by the Syrians.
The Syrian president, Bashar Assad, was accused of having a hand in the assasination of the Lebanese Prime Minister, Rafik Hariri. Lahoud is making noise now because he rightly worried that he will held to account for Syria's misdeeds in Lebanon.
No word yet from the MSM on these realities.
