This, That And The Other

Those who insist the UN can handle the North Korean crisis and point to member nations 'solidarity' on the matter are nothing but delusional. The UN can't find a way to deal with the situation in Darfur, a genocide perpetrated by criminals on horseback, supported and backed by a dysfunctional regime. Is there anyone that really believes the UN can effectively handle the North Korean nuclear crisis? This should come as no real surprise to anyone- the UN agreement on North Korea is starting to disintegrtrate.

...the united international front against North Korea has begun to crumble.

The divisions are emerging over how to enforce the various sanctions that the international community agreed to impose on North Korea over its nuclear test.

China is firmly reiterating its opposition to the planned inspection of all cargo moving in and out of the isolated country, and the United States in turn is demanding that China live up to its international responsibilities.

Speaking of North Korea, that country's second banana (behind the finely coiffed Kim Jung Il)

...vowed to strengthen the military and defeat the United States...

Right. Imagine a million North Korean soldiers invading the south, only to find out that people were not starving, dying and freezing to death. A million North Koreans will find out they have been lied to for generations.

That does not mean there is no crisis. With a successful nuclear test, Kim Jung Il's stock among dysfunctionial despots and terorists (read: Iran and Al Qaeda, for starters) goes up- and the price for nuclear weapons and know how goes up. Follow the money, baby.

Moshe Katsav, holder of the ceremonial post of President of Israel, may be facing charges of rape. The initial flurry of ecstatic Arab media reports have tapered off. Whatever Mr Katsav is or isn't guilty of, it pales in comparison to what dysfunctional Arab leaders have done to their nations for decades. Comparing apples to apples, Katsav is a saint. Arab media doesn't like comparison.

Apparently, Madonna was unaware that there were children in the US and the UK that were available for adoption. It was that secret that prompted Madonna to go to Malawi to try to adopt a young boy- an adoption that is now being challenged in court. Maybe she can wow the Malawi courts by wearing one of her provocative costumes. Who could deny Madonna's fitness as a mother and goos influence after seeing that?

We would make a comment about the Brangelina, but we refuse to plum the great depths of stupidity.

To further our contention that far too many people are seriously detached from reality, we offer further evidence for your perusal and discussion.

Parents are clueless:

  • 72 percent believe that their children have special talents or qualities that will earn them scholarships.

  • 72 percent report that they encouraged their children academically to earn scholarships.

  • 47 percent report that they encouraged their children in athletics to win scholarships.

  • 38 percent said that they encouraged artistic talent in their children to win scholarships.

Unbelievable. Read it all, here.

Finally, proof positive that there has been too much inbreeding on that island we know as Great Britain.

The new landlord of a pub has said he had no choice when he took over but to ban one of the regulars - a two-year-old pony called Morning Mist...

Morning Mist was given her marching orders on the grounds of health and safety.

Mr Manton, 62, is not happy about the changes at the pub, in Marshfield, situated between Cardiff and Newport.

He said: "I don't blame them for what they are doing but it's becoming a 'yuppie' pub.
