Democrat Dennis Dances In Damascus
First it was a headscarf wearing Nancy Pelosi traipsing off to Damascus.
Not to be outdone, perennial presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich made his way to the Syrian leader’s table.
US Democrat Senator lawmaker Senator زDennis Kucinich stressed the important role Syria plays in enhancing security and stability in the Mideast region.
In a lecture given at al-Assad Library here on Sunday, Kucinich said his current visit to Syria is based on the conviction that the country has an important and constructive role to play in the region and that direct contacts with people are necessary to work together with open hearts for making peace in the region.
The Democrat Senator said that principle of force through peace depends on abidance by international laws.
Hence, the US, he added, should effectively work to dismantle all nuclear, chemical and biological weapons because they undermine world stability and distance people from peace.
The US Congressman called on the US to join the UN efforts to strengthen the international laws.
He pointed out that the current US policy, which is based on the principle of peace through using force, leads only to wars and chaos which in turn reap the utmost failure as is the case with Iraq.
Kucinich commended Syrias role in hosting over 1.5 million Iraqis, calling upon the UN to help Syria bear the burdens of refugees.
He expressed regret over the consequences of Israels aggression on Lebanon and condemned the oppressive Israeli practices carried out against the Palestinian people.
Democrats can so proud.
